  1. So you want to Advertise on Demigods and Monsters, yeah? That's great! We can't wait to give you the chance! There are a few rules, however... RULE #1 You must always, always reciprocate. This means you must have a linkback to us already in place on your site when I go to check and approve. (Our admin @Cyzzane is currently designing our button as we speak, but I can send you a text advert for now, just reply below and request the text advert and tell me how to get it to you--e-mail, guest account on your site, etc.) That way I can just add you right away while I'm checking requests. RULE #2 You must provide a button with dimensions 88 x 31. RULE #3 Patience. All of our admin have very busy lives and our site members are our first priority. Once we've finished all our duties on the site, we will get to advertisement if we have time. We promise it won't take more than a week, but sometimes it will be the full 7 days during busier parts of the year. So how do I request an Advertisement? Just fill out the following form... Important! Registration Help Desk

Registration Help Desk It's the absolute worst when you want to join a site but can't seem to figure out how. You think you've done everything right, and still you can't seem to get your account to work! What on earth is going on?! Don't worry we're here to help. The Site Staff at Demigods and Monsters understand that things aren't always straightforward and software doesn't always work how it's supposed to. So for any and all assistance please see the forms below. Fill out the appropriate form as a reply to this thread, and one of our staff members will respond as quickly as possible! Help I Can't Create An Account! So you've filled out the registration form to the best of your ability, used a valid e-mail, and seem to have run into some issues. Don't worry, we've got your back! We can manually validate your e-mail for you. Just fill out this form and post it as a reply below. We'll get you sorted out. Form Desired Account Name: (remember, must be FirstName LastName setup, your character's name. Alias accounts are solely for staff members) E-mail: (the e-mail you want associated with the account, we will have to create a password--you can change it when you log in--and will need an off-site way to get that to you, so it should be a valid e-mail) Did you receive a validation e-mail? Yes/No (sometimes you'll receive an e-mail but the validation link may not work, that's actually exponentially easier for us than having to fix it manually!) A staff member told me I had to change my name, and now I can't log in! We get it, we asked you to change your account name and now you can't get on. That has got to be frustrating for you, and it's probably an error on our end. Whoops! Sometimes we mess up too, but we're happy to fix it. Just fill out the form below and we'll straighten you up soon! Form Original Account Name: (It's possible the change isn't complete, so we'll check this first) E-mail Associated with the Account: (the e-mail you want associated with the account, we will have to create a password--you can change it when you log in--and will need an off-site way to get that to you, so it should be a valid e-mail) Name You Asked To Be Changed To: (since that's what we'll have to search, remember, must be FirstName LastName setup, your character's name. Alias accounts are solely for staff members) Staff Who Messaged You: (In case we can't find you, we'll ask them for assistance) Other For anything else related to Registration, and Registration ONLY, please use this form! Form Desired/Existing Account Name: Contact E-Mail: (If necessary, we'll contact you at this e-mail so please use a valid e-mail you check) Your Question/Bug: Evidence: (This may not be necessary if there's no bug or the question is straightforward. But if you think some evidence will help, include it here.)
  3. Character Plots Every character has their own story to tell. For you, your character is the main character of a story. And sure, we have a site plot that you might play a major role in. But you may also be uninterested in the current plot. Or maybe you feel you joined to late for the current thread and want something to do until the next stage of the plot rolls around. Or, the best reason of all, you just want to expand on your character more. Whatever the case may be, we are creating a system in which you can not only have your own plot for your character, but get rewarded for completing it! Anyone who completes a character plot (whether it's their own or taking part with a friend) will earn a "Participation bead" Medal much the same way you do with participating in the Site Plot. These beads count towards your overall Champion Score. Once your character is deemed a Champion you earn certain privileges around the site. The primary perks being longer absentee time before losing a face and higher consideration for Cabin Leader if a position opens up in your cabin. However other perks are available and the list will only grow as the site remains open. And consider this, not every plot has to be a grand adventure. Some plots will just be about the development of a character over time. A journey of self-discovery as it were. So don't worry if your plot idea doesn't seem grandiose. It's yours! It should be what you want to do. So pitch the idea, you may just find that we approve it. The Application Process Much like with your character application, your plot application will go through an approval period where it is reviewed by staff for consistency and appropriateness for the character. You don't need to have all the people signed up for your plot, though if you do that will definitely be a point in your favor! Below is a form, you will create a new thread, like you did with your character application, and title it whatever the title of your plot is. Much like with your character application, you will also mark it as "In Progress" while you're writing it, and "Ready for Review" once you're ready for staff to look at it. Please be sure to list any Mythical Creatures, Olympian Gods, and Minor Gods, that you will need for your plot. If we don't currently have writers or accounts for them, Lilythe will make the account and find a writer to fill that spot for you when the necessary time comes. For any other spot you need filled by a camper, simply put "Friend 1", "Rival 1", or another generic appropriate title if you don't have a member for it yet. Those will be your responsibility to find by the appropriate time. You can fill out a Want Ad to help get them. Form The form is the code listed below. By now you've filled out at least one other coding source, so we hope you'll be able to figure this one out. However if you need any help, please contact @Lilythe Plot Template PLOT TITLE HERE Plot Overview Primary Character:YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME Other Campers:LIST ANY OTHER CAMPER INVOLVED Locations: LIST ANY LOCATIONS Significant Artifact: IF THERE IS ONE, LIST THE ARTIFACT NAME HERE Mythical Creatures: LIST ANY MYTHICAL CREATURES DIRECTLY INVOLVED Olympian Gods:LIST ANY OLYMPIAN GODS DIRECTLY INVOLVED Minor Gods: LIST ANY MINOR GODS DIRECTLY INVOLVED Mature Content: LIST ANY MATURE CONTENT THAT MIGHT BE INVOLVED IN THE PLOT Plot Summary WRITE A SUMMARY HERE, make sure you use breaks (br inbetween the triangle brackets) for new paragraphs. Important! Application

Application for Canons Below is an application of all the canon characters that we will have active on the site. By applying for a canon character, you are agreeing to uphold the following rules: Ownership of the Character does not belong to you: Book canon characters are the intellectual property of Rick Riordan. Site Canon characters are the intellectual property of Demigods and Monsters. The account is the property of Demigods and Monsters. If at any time you lose the character, for any reason, you cannot attempt to claim ownership. You must maintain a tracker for the character: Any roleplay you are part of must be maintained in the canon character tracker. If a tracker has not yet been created for the character, you will create it. A tracker is considered maintained if it has all threads you have participated in on it. The reason this is important is because should you choose to give up the character, it allows the next owner of the character to have a record of previous encounters to refer to. You will wrap up any current threads before voluntarily giving up your canon: If you choose to give up your canon character voluntarily, please wrap up any threads you are currently active in. Lilythe will take over any ongoing threads for characters that are taken back by the site, but we ask volunteers to finish their threads so that Lilythe doesn't have to take on even more. To apply send the form below in a PM to Lilythe with the title "Canon Application". Lilythe will review your application as soon as possible. The Application Process Once you PM the form to Lilythe, she will send you a questionnaire to fill out. You will answer the top half of the questionnaire as the character. How would the character respond to those situations? Respond accordingly. The bottom half of the questionnaire will be your liability form. Essentially it will be you signing that you agree to the terms set out for that character. Sometimes that will include additional terms than the universal rules above. Such as finishing a plot that currently involves that character. Form Send this form to Lilythe in a PM to apply. Name of Canon Do you currently have any other canons? Do you agree to participate in any site plots that require this character? Do you agree to participate in character plots that require this character? How active do you plan to be with this character?

    Important! Template and Sample

For those of you that haven't ever done a "Tracker" before, they're kind of a nifty thing! Say you need a way to keep up with all the billions of threads you have on your character, and all those relationships (friendships, enmities, and love) they form, this is the place to do it! A Tracker serves as both a shipper and a thread tracker. The top two sections will keep track of your active and archived threads, while the bottom section will list your various relationships. It puts all the information in one nice and convenient place for you, and anyone curious about what's going on in your character's life, to locate. It's your job to keep it updated though! IMPORTANT NOTICE! As was stated with your application, unfortunately the way things work with coding in IP Board, all CSS has to be done on the back end. This means that you cannot create your own HTML templates for posts, we have to do it for you. Since we're not about to edit the CSS for every single person so they can have a unique Tracker, we're stuck with using one uniform set. Please be understanding of this, and just use the code below if you're going to use a code at all. Alternatively, you can post an ad just using the text editor and not worrying about the HTML coding. That is completely your call. SAMPLE Unedited Template: Full Name Here Relationships Friends First Last - short blurb about them Enemies First Last - short blurb about them Romance First Last - short blurb about them Other First Last - short blurb about them Active Threads Thread Title - PARTICIPANT NAME Thread Title - PARTICIPANT NAME Thread Title - PARTICIPANT NAME Archived Threads Thread Title - PARTICIPANT NAME Thread Title - PARTICIPANT NAME Thread Title - PARTICIPANT NAME CODE: <center> <table id="app_template"> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_title"> Full Name Here </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_banner"> <img alt="600x300" src="http://placehold.it/600x300"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_subtitle"> Relationships </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <div id="track_subtitle_title"> Friends </div> <b>First Last</b> - short blurb about them <div id="track_subtitle_title"> Enemies </div> <b>First Last</b> - short blurb about them </td> <td> <div id="track_subtitle_title"> Romance </div> <b>First Last</b> - short blurb about them <div id="track_subtitle_title"> Other </div> <b>First Last</b> - short blurb about them </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_subtitle"> Active Threads </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_body"> <a href="LINK%20TO%20THREAD" rel=""><font color="#522896">Thread Title</font></a> - <i>PARTICIPANT NAME</i><br> <a href="LINK%20TO%20THREAD" rel=""><font color="#522896">Thread Title</font></a> - <i>PARTICIPANT NAME</i><br> <a href="LINK%20TO%20THREAD" rel=""><font color="#522896">Thread Title</font></a> - <i>PARTICIPANT NAME</i> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_subtitle"> Archived Threads </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_body"> <a href="LINK%20TO%20THREAD" rel=""><font color="#522896">Thread Title</font></a> - <i>PARTICIPANT NAME</i><br> <a href="LINK%20TO%20THREAD" rel=""><font color="#522896">Thread Title</font></a> - <i>PARTICIPANT NAME</i><br> <a href="LINK%20TO%20THREAD" rel=""><font color="#522896">Thread Title</font></a> - <i>PARTICIPANT NAME</i> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </center>

    Important! How This Works

Through whatever hardships (or easy coasting) you faced, you have managed to make it from where your journey began, across the strawberry fields, all the way to The Big House on Halfblood Hill. Led by your Satyr, you've been brought to the house and now you await one of the Cabin Leaders to teach you all about your new life here at Camp Halfblood. This is where your journey begins... How This Works What you, the writer, is going to do at this point is start a thread. In it you will write how you came to be on Halfblood Hill that day. There are very few requirements that have to have taken place. 1) You had to be brought by a satyr. 2) Your character is 13 years old or younger. (If you have an approved older character, please see the note below regarding older characters) 3) You have to have completed your application already, but not necessarily be approved yet With this in mind, make sure your post is long enough to cover your current state (are you all disheveled, or did you get to stop and rest along the way), where you're at in the house, and how your character is feeling. Nobody is in the house with you, your satyr has left to find a Cabin Leader. So you're free to get curious and poke around if you like. Just give the Cabin Leaders something to work with. Regarding Older Characters: If you've reserved an older character slot and are attempting to post here, you have 2 options. You can either wait until you have your claim so you know exactly how old your character is and whether they're returning to camp or brand new, or you can post now and make no reference to who your parent is, or your age, and accept that you've been at camp for a while and are returning. If you choose the second option and don't get approved for your older year, then the assumption will be that you stayed in Hermes' cabin, as is tradition for unclaimed children, and have yet to be claimed. If you do get approved, you can then begin talking about things as if your age and given parent have been in play the whole time.
  7. For those of you that haven't ever done an application before, they're the heart and soul of the site! In order to maintain consistent characters, and ensure that we keep a certain level of quality on the site, an application is necessary. It ensures that writers have a character image to stick to. That isn't to say the character can't grow and change after the initial application, for they certainly will, but it gives them a background to grow from and a base to start at. The Site Staff use these applications to determine which godly parent you have. We use them to determine if you qualify for the ability you applied for. And we use them to monitor growth as a writer for other things along the way. It helps to give us a sense of who you are as a writer and were you go from here. USING THE APPROPRIATE PREFIX Applications require a prefix to be posted. Make sure that you are using the appropriate one for your application. In Progress - This status means that you are still working on the application. Our staff will wait to review the application until its status changes. Ready for Review - This status means that you are ready for our Staff to review your application. Hang tight while we make this decision. There are 4 statuses that Staff can post your application as. Under Review - This means that staff is reviewing your application. do not edit your application during this time. Pending - This means that your application needs a couple tweaks before it's ready for approval. There will be a PM in your inbox from the Staff telling you what they found, and you can edit it from here. While editing make sure you use In Progress while working on it, and Ready for Review when you've made the appropriate alterations to your application. Approved - When your application is complete and no errors have been found, your application will be marked as "Approved" and once you do your claims, we will move it to the appropriate approved location. Denied - After completing the review of an application, multiple attempts to allow the individual to correct the application, and finding it not in keeping with community standards staff may deny you. A denied application will remain for 1 week before being deleted to allow the author to save their content should they wish to use it elsewhere. Once your application is moved to the approved section, after you've done all your claims for it, two new prefixes will be available for you to use as you see fit. Inactive - This should be used when you know you don't plan on using your character for more than a month. Undoing this requires the help of Site Staff, so make sure you plan on being inactive for more than 30 days before changing your status to this. Inactive characters can be changed back to active at any time, but you must message staff to do so. Retired - When you feel you've gotten everything you can out of a character, you can retire them. This process cannot be undone. Once you've retired your character, Staff will move it to the Character Archives at their earliest convenience. IMPORTANT NOTICE! Unfortunately the way things work with coding in IP Board, all CSS has to be done on the back end. This means that you cannot create your own HTML templates for posts, we have to do it for you. Since we're not about to edit the CSS for every single person so they can have a unique Application, we're stuck with using one uniform set. Please be understanding of this, and just use the code below. If HTML is something that you find difficult, we have a guide available HERE for you. When I agree to write with another writer, I will not deliberately cross any hard limits that person has for the duration of our thread and will address and correct any limits crossed on accident. <center> <table id="app_template"> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_title"> Full Name Here </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_banner"> <img alt="600x300" src="http://placehold.it/600x300"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_subtitle"> General Information </td> </tr> <tr> <td id="app_left"> <b>First Name:</b>Name<br> <b>Last Name:</b>Surname<br> <b>Godly Parent:</b> Leave blank on initial app and edit after your claiming<br> <b>Mortal Parent:</b>Here<br> <b>Mortal Siblings:</b> Chilidren of your Mortal Parent<br> <b>Other significant relatives?</b>Here<br> <b>Place of Birth:</b>Here. </td> <td id="app_right"> <b>Age:</b>Here<br> <b>Date of Birth:</b> Write like May 31st, 2018<br> <b>Spoken Languages:</b>Here<br> <b>Pets:</b>Here<br> <b>Items of Importance:</b>Here<br> <b>Weapons:</b> Please do not leave blank<br> <b>Skills:</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_subtitle"> Appearance </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_body"> <div id="app_floatright"> <img alt="240x240" src="http://placehold.it/240x240"> </div> <b>Face Claim:</b>Name Here<br> <br> <b>Eyes:&nbsp;</b>Color Here<br> <b>Hair:&nbsp;</b>Color Here<br> <b>Height:</b> 4&#39;7&quot; or 140cm is average for an 11 year old<br> <br> <b>General Appearance:</b> Should be at least a paragraph </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_subtitle"> Personality </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" id="app_body"> <div id="app_floatleft"> <b>Likes:</b> At least 5<br> <b>Dislikes:</b> At least 5<br> <b>Strengths:</b> At least 5. Important! Template and Sample

For those of you that haven't ever done a "Want Ad" before, they're kind of a nifty thing! Say you need a rival, best friend, or a love interest, and you have an idea for the character, but you don't want to write for them yourself. You can post a Want Ad, like the one below, asking for someone to take on that character for you! If someone wants to take on a Want Ad character, they will have to complete an application and any fitting reserves and claims, just like any other character, but they will already have a significant portion of the character planned out for them, and someone ready to role-play with them. Accepting a Want Ad is kind of like accepting a Canon. You have to abide by the rules (within reason) of the person who placed the Want Ad for that character since they are the ones who had the initial idea for the character. So if you can no longer write for the character, or wish to go a different route, it is your responsibility to talk to the owner of the Want Ad and figure out if you need to return the character to them. IMPORTANT NOTICE! As was stated with your application, unfortunately the way things work with coding in IP Board, all CSS has to be done on the back end. This means that you cannot create your own HTML templates for posts, we have to do it for you. Since we're not about to edit the CSS for every single person so they can have a unique Want Ad, we're stuck with using one uniform set. Please be understanding of this, and just use the code below if you're going to use a code at all. Alternatively, you can post an ad just using the text editor and not worrying about the HTML coding. That is completely your call. SAMPLE Unedited Template: Full Name Here General Information Just give the gist of the character's information here. You can organize it however you'd like. Edited Template: Percy Jackson General Information Perseus "Percy" Jackson is a seventeen-year-old Greek demigod, the son of Poseidon and Sally Jackson. He is the head counselor at Poseidon's Cabin and a former Praetor of the Twelfth Legion at Camp Jupiter. He is currently in a relationship with Annabeth Chase. 10. About Prefixes and Tagging For anyone that hasn't used it before, the Prefix and Tagging system can be pretty complicated. That's why we decided to make a separate guide that explicitly covers what our Prefixes and Tags are, how to use them, and a guide that walks you through using them on your threads. If any image is too small for you to see, please click on it to enlarge it! Know Your Prefixes Approved: Who Can Use It: Administrators, Moderators, Support Staff When To Use It: After completing the review of an application, and approving it. When To Change It: If you mark your character as Inactive or Retired Character Plot Related: Who Can Use It: Anyone When To Use It: When a thread you're creating has to do with an approved character plot. When To Change It: When you are finished with it, change it to "Ready to Archive" Denied: Who Can Use It: Administrators, Moderators, Support Staff When To Use It: After completing the review of an application, multiple attempts to allow the individual to correct the application, and finding it not in keeping with community standards. When To Change It: Never. Inactive: Who Can Use It: Anyone When To Use It: When marking a character voluntarily as currently not in use or if the character has been unused for more than 30 days (90 days for Champion characters). When To Change It: It can be removed after the first post has been made since inactivity by a Staff member. You will have to PM a member of Staff to remove it. In Progress: Who Can Use It: Anyone When To Use It: When starting your application if you do not complete it right away, to alert people you are still working on that application. When To Change It: When you've completed your application you may change it to Ready for Review to let staff know it's completed. Mature: Who Can Use It: Anyone When To Use It: When starting a roleplay that contains mature content (detailed in a later section of this document). When To Change It: When you are done, change it to "Ready to Archive", but add the "Mature" tag afterward. Open: Who Can Use It: Anyone When To Use It: When starting a roleplay that you are okay with anyone joining. When To Change It: When the topic has concluded, you can mark it as "Ready to Archive" Pending: Who Can Use It: Administrators, Moderators, Support Staff When To Use It: After completing the review of an application, and sending a PM to the individual with suggested corrections. When To Change It: When you've completed altering your application you may change it to Ready for Review to let staff know it's ready for another glance or if you want more time while editing, you can change it to "In Progress". Ready for Review: Who Can Use It: Anyone When To Use It: After completing your application. When To Change It: Never. Staff will change it when we've reviewed your application. Ready to Archive: Who Can Use It: Anyone When To Use It: Add it to a thread when you're done with it and ready for it to be added to our archives, but be sure you're really done because once it's moved it's done! When To Change It: Never. Retired: Who Can Use It: Anyone When To Use It: When you are voluntarily retiring your character but be careful, once this process is done it cannot be undone When To Change It: Never Site Plot Related: Who Can Use It: Administrators, Moderators, Support Staff When To Use It: When a thread pertains to the Site-wide Plot When To Change It: Never. Under Review: Who Can Use It: Administrators, Moderators, Support Staff When To Use It: When you've started reviewing an application to alert the applicant that their application is currently being looked over When To Change It: Once you've made your decision about the application Guide to Using Prefixes When posting in the forum, Prefixes are very important. They help us identify threads, and keep the site organized and looking nice. We understand, however, that things aren't going to be that straightforward for someone who hasn't ever used this type of system before. So we hope that our step-by-step guide will help. This is our Prefix drop-down box. If appropriate, you will choose a prefix from the box when creating a topic. Topics that need prefixes include: Applications, Topics with Mature Content, Site Plot Topics, Character Plot Topics, Open Topics, and topics that are ready to be archived. (click on the image to enlarge it if necessary. Sometimes you will need to change the Prefix you used. For example, you might mark your application as "In Progress" if you start it but don't complete it the first day, and then when you complete it later you'll need to change it to "Ready for Review". Prefixes can be changed by editing the very first post in the topic. In order to do that you'll need to use the "Edit" button as pictured to the left. What if my topic qualifies for more than one of the Prefixes? We understand that this might happen. Something might be part of your plot and open. It might be mature and also part of a plot. Or, when you're ready to archive a topic that's character plot related, you'll need a second category. You'll notice the drop down box only allows for the use of one prefix. This is why we implemented the tagging system as well. For topics that need additional prefixes, you'll be able to use the predefined tags "Mature" and "Character Plot Related". While "Site Plot Related" will appear to be an option (there's no way to limit which members can use which tags, unfortunately) do not use this tag without staff permission. If your topic needs a secondary prefix, use one of the appropriate tags to add the secondary prefix to the end of it. Once your topic is concluded, and you change your prefix to "ready to Archive", make sure you add the original prefix as a tag if it is one of the two mentioned above.
  11. Frequently Asked Questions Starting on a new site can be a bit overwhelming. Especially when you have a bunch of questions and people don't immediately have answers. As a result we thought it would be a great idea to put together a document of questions we foresee being asked often by newer members. And we will continuously update this as questions arise. If your question is not answered here, please feel free to start a topic. Someone, staff or active member, will answer you as soon as we're able! Registration Questions Sometimes it can be hard to get a site to cooperate with your e-mail address. Or maybe the way the guide is written is just confusing to you. We're hoping this will clear quite a few of your questions up. But if it doesn't, don't hesitate to ask in THIS FORUM. How do I register? If you scroll to the very top of this page, in the upper right hand corner is a little black button that says "Sign Up". If you click that and fill out the form, you will be able to register for the site. All fields must be completed, and you must use a valid e-mail to receive your validation code. Do I have to use a valid e-mail? Technically no, but it will put a lot more control for you. A validation e-mail is sent out. Until you're validated, you're still considered a "guest" which greatly limits your posting capabilities. If you don't use a valid e-mail, you won't receive it and can't validate yourself. Which means you'll have to post in the registration forum linked above and wait for a staff member to sort you. This could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days depending on our schedules. So it's strongly recommended that you use a valid e-mail to allow yourself to post as quickly as possible. A staff member told me I had to change my name, and now I can't log in! Have you tried using the login that you provided the staff member with as a replacement? First try that! If it still doesn't work, please click on the link above to visit the registration help forum. It may be possible that your password got reset as well. We can fix that all manually, just let us know we need to! How do I get my application approved? Primarily what the site staff look for is consistency. If your application doesn't contradict canon, site canon, site rules, and itself, it will generally be approved. Our staff will always give feedback on why an application was placed in pending, so if you aren't approved the first time around check your PM! Usually it's something minor and easily fixed, and more often than not it's related to a consistency issue. Roleplay Questions Adapting to a new site and new roleplay styles has the potential to feel daunting. We try to be as flexible as possible here, but we have to look out for everyone and that can sometimes put things at odds. If you have any questions that aren't listed below, please feel free to contact @Lilythe. She will make sure to answer you as quickly as possible! Do I have to be a Demigod? The short answer is "no". We have other options that are available, such as canon accounts for Gods and some creatures. We will eventually open up creature applications as well, once we have a solid base. The quickest and easiest way to get started is to play a Demigod. That being said... Your first account will need to be a Demigod account for now, as the application process for canons will require a regular account, and we don't have our creature accounts ready yet. Why can't I be all powerful? The short answer is that it makes it no fun for anyone else that's roleplaying with you if you try to be all-powerful. Imagine roleplaying with someone who never got hit, never was damaged, never seemed to listen, etc. You'd probably be quite bothered by it, yeah? So that's why we can't allow anyone to do that. Not even for one character. Even the Gods in Greek times weren't all powerful. Safety and Regulations Questions One thing we pride ourselves on is doing our best to be fair and look out for our members. We try to keep things as fair as possible and to ensure that the result will have the best outcome we could foresee. That being said, we won't be able to make everyone happy, and we cannot predict every possible outcome. Below are some common issues that may occur. Someone is harassing me, who do I talk to? Any member of the Administrator, Moderator, and Site Staff groups. Our entire staff takes the issue of harassment seriously, and we will handle it as best we can with whatever information is provided to us. Be sure that we will handle it as best as we reasonably can in our limited scope of ability. A Staff Member and I disagree, what do I do? Accept what the staff member says at first, after all they're just doing their job. You can always go through the appeal process (detailed in the Site Rules and Regulations) to have a decision overturned if you disagree with it strongly enough. We try to be fair, but we can't please everyone, but we will certainly give it additional consideration if someone feels strongly enough to appeal the decision.
  12. Rules and Regulations In order to maintain peace among writers, community standards, and an atmosphere of general happiness, every site needs to have certain boundaries in place. The contents of this document discuss the rules that are enforced on our site, and the guidelines we expect people to follow. By joining Demigods and Monsters you agree to abide by everything within this document, so make sure you read it thoroughly! While most of it will be common sense, some of the guidelines may be new to you. The Demigods And Monsters roleplay environment is an 18+/M-rated site. As such, that means, in registering, you agree that you are at least 18 years of age and are willing to accept full responsibility for any content you post. We expect that our members are capable of making their own decisions as to what type of content they wish to expose themselves to, and are also able to avoid any content they don't wish to be exposed to of their own volition. We are a site dedicated to roleplay and character development across the Percy Jackson Universe. We understand that Rick Riordan has created a vast universe that most roleplay sites don't fully explore. We hope to be able to explore more of it by offering as many areas to roleplay in as we have been given information for by Riordan. Our site predominantly bases itself off the books. The movies are supplemental, but not a primary source of information. This means that if information from the movies conflicts with information in the books, we will follow the books. For example, Annabeth's hair is blonde because that is how it was in the books. Moving forward, our rules are separated by category. This is to make it easier for everyone to navigate, and to help break it up so that it doesn't seem like one incredibly long read. Not every rule for character development will be something that you, as a writer, will find impacts you, and most people will find our conduct rules to be common sense. However we have to write them out so that it is very clear to anyone joining what expectations are so that there is no confusion later. Code of Conduct Within this section are the Code of Conduct for our site. This is all the out of character rules we expect our members to adhere to. What is meant by this statement is that these are the rules that we expect our writers, but not necessarily their characters, to abide by. For example, there is a rule that is against bullying people. Your character might be a bully, and that is fine. Not every character is a good guy, and we encourage diversity and depth of characters. But if any of the writers were to feel that the bullying is directed at them, and not their character, and believe that you as the writer are the bully, then you would be violating the rule and our staff will have to get involved. With that in mind, the subsections below (in lighter purple with black lettering) will begin to discuss our expectations for our writers. Most of them will seem like common sense, but please be sure you read them, as joining the site is agreeing to abide by them. General Conduct The rules within this section are how we expect people to conduct themselves in general on our site. They apply to everyone, and will be enforced. However they are also the most simplistic of our rules, and it is doubtful that most members will need too many reminders to abide by them. All Writers Must be 18 Years or Older: While the administration will always strive to keep the content on this site as appropriate as possible, and with warnings for "mature" content areas, we are human and may miss something. To avoid as many problems as possible, we ask that our Role-Players/Writers be at least 18 years of age and capable of discretion. Profanity Should be Kept to a Minimum: For some characters swearing is as natural as breathing. We understand that. But swearing just for the sake of swearing is unappealing to most writers. It may offend others as well, and we ask that our writers be sensitive to this. Be Understanding of Others: We all come from different places, different cultures, and different lifestyles. What offends one may be commonplace for another. We ask that our members be understanding of our differences, and if you offend someone, apologize. Administrators and Moderators Have Final Say: No matter how hard we try, we cannot please everyone. So if something becomes too controversial, the staff reserves the right to delete a thread/ban a user if necessary. Though we will use this as a last resort. When Using Graphics, Artists Require Credit: It is fairly commonplace in forum-based roleplaying to have a signature, icon, or other graphic work utilized to depict a character. We strongly encourage this use as we feel it gives artists opportunities for exposure. Because of this, however, we absolutely require that all graphics be credited to their creators. Signatures, Banners, and Icons without credit will be removed by Administration upon failure to comply once prompted. Plagiarism Policy: There are lots of wonderful ideas out there, and sometimes we have similar ideas. But if there is blatant plagiarism between writers, our administrators will have a zero-tolerance policy. In other words, if your ideas are not your own, it is best not to use them. If you feel your ideas are too similar to someone else, probably a good idea to change plans rather than risk a plagiarism accusation. Regarding Prefixes Prefixes are a major part of organization on this site. With the way our current system is, there is no way to limit who has access to which Tags (and subsequently, which prefixes) which can cause absolute chaos if people aren't being responsible or honorable in their conduct with them. In this thread is a list of our prefixes, who can use them, and what they can be used for. It is your responsibility as a member of this site to read this additional thread and understand it. The consequences for inappropriately using prefixes include official warnings and suspensions. Banning can be a potential consequence, but only as a very last resort. Harassment Policy Harassment is not tolerated: period! We define this as: "any form of action that is meant to disrupt or upset someone or a situation" Characters may not get along, this is understandable. But none of the Role-Players/Writers should feel that this is personal. If you wish to be an "enemy" of another character, you should first notify the individual that this is your intent via PM. They also must respond with an acceptance. Keep the acceptance response as, should they decide to contact an administrator at a later time, this will be your protection. Then the characters may not get along, and harrass one another, but the writers should always feel cordial towards one another. If a writer contacts you and says they feel you have crossed a line, you should apologize. If you feel that you are being harrassed, please contact a moderator or an admin immediately. Even if the person harassing you is an administrator or moderator. We will review your complaint and any staff member found guilty of harassment will face being stripped of their title and whatever other consequences deemed appropriate by the remaining staff. Dating Policy We know that often characters, and even writers, fall head over heels in love with one another. Love is a wonderful emotion and it drives many things. However, before you start shipping those characters or getting involved with other writers, we'd like to clear up a few details. Dating Conflicts: If you find a writer that you're happy with and care about while on here, that is great. However, it is not what the site is for. If that is the only reason you are here, or if you make your in-character posts about any out-of-character relationships that may develop that is not okay. We ask that you keep your out-of-character life to the out-of-character forums only, and keep any dating that develops between writers off-site. We are not going to be the mediators between jealous lovers or solve relationship problems. If any conflicts arise from two members dating that cause issues on the site itself, then actions will be taken to remove the source of the problem with the least damage to the site and its other members. Catfishing Policy: Catfishing is defined as representing oneself as someone other than their true identity in an online environment. This can include lying about your name, age, gender, appearance, race, and anything else pertaining to identity. Since we use aliases on this site to identify writers, there is no reason for anyone to need to give out personal information they aren't comfortable with--which means there is no reason to lie about it either (if someone is pressuring you and it makes you uncomfortable, refer to the harassment policy and contact and Admin or Moderator immediately, please). As such, we have a zero-tolerance policy for catfishing. In any instance of catfishing, all positions will be stripped from the member. In instances where any members were caused significant distress by the actions of the catfisher, they will be banned immediately. So we strongly encourage all members that aren't comfortable identifying themselves online to simply say "I prefer to go by my Alias, thank you." rather than resort to catfishing and lying. Regarding Pedophilia: We are a mature site. We are a site that allows writing on taboo and dark subjects. Between characters, adult/teenager relationships might emerge. This, however, can only be in character. This should go without saying, but the site feels that by making it clear where we stand there is no room for misunderstanding. We will not allow any writer to engage in real world pedophilia. Let it be known that anyone who engages in this activity will be reported to the FBI or similar applicable authorities by our staff immediately, with no chance for explanation or defense. This is a zero tolerance policy and will result in immediate banning and dismissal from any positions. Leaving the Site Everyone hopes that it will never come to this, but should you decide you wish to leave us there are a few things that need to be done. Original Characters: If you are Role-playing as an original character, your steps are very simple. Are you leaving the site, or just the character? If you are leaving the site, please make sure that you start the process for canon characters first, and then remove original characters. The steps for this process are longer and will require staff involvement, while originals do not. Canon Characters: If you are Role-playing as a canon character, your steps become a little more complicated. Think about whether this is permanent or not. If it is due to a temporary inability to get online or be active, you can simply make a post in an away board for a defined amount of time. Your account does not need to be deleted, and when you come back you are welcome to use the same character. However, should your absence be more than a few weeks, it is strongly recommended that you work things out with any writers you are writing with to ensure that they know your situation and can make a decision to continue plans or change theirs. If, however, you feel it is permanent, or that if you return you would not use the same character, please contact Lilythe. She will retire your account so that you will no longer receive any e-mails from the website (please allow 1 week for full effect.) Regardless of level of permanency, contact Lilythe. While we would love to allow you to return to the canon character when you return, the position will need to be re-filled in your absence. Whether that is temporary or not will be up to the person who takes over, and the Staff for the area. In the meantime, Lilythe will need to change the password to one she knows so that when the position is filled the new player will be able to access it. Wait for a reply from Lilythe so that you can complete step 4 (please allow 1 week). Finish any current Roleplays. All roleplays that the character is active in will need to come to a reasonable conclusion. That means finding a way that makes sense for your character to leave the current RP, not just abandoning it. Regarding Leaving on Bad Terms: We understand that not all partings will be amicable. Unfortunately we can't please everyone, and that means a few feathers will get ruffled here and there. While we won't stifle your ability to express dissatisfaction, we ask that you simply keep it to PMs and non-public spaces. Posting in public view your dissatisfaction will dissuade new members, who may not share your views or perspective, from joining because they don't have context for why you're upset. On that note, any public displays of dissatisfaction will be deleted immediately, and if more than 1 warning is necessary to cease these posts all accounts associated with the Alias in question will be banned. We fully respect your right to be upset at our decisions and to make the choice to leave, if that's your desire, but we cannot risk the well-being of the site to allow that expression. PMs and other private forms of expression, however, are completely permissible and even encouraged to allow the venting of emotions which is necessary for healing. Registration This section of the rules pertains to rules about registering accounts on our site. If you would like a step by step guide on how to get started on our site, please go HERE Each Character Will Have Its Own Account: Unfortunately we don't have the ability to have posts populate as different characters from the same account. It's just not something we have functionality for. This means that each character will need its own account. Each Account Must Have A Unique E-Mail: If I could change this, I would. Unfortunately the way IP Board's account systems work is that they use your e-mail as your identifier for unique accounts. Therefore, each account has to be registered with a different e-mail. That being said, only your primary account needs to have a valid e-mail. If you require validation, for a new account, you can PM one of our Administrators or Moderators from your primary account and request that they do it. Support Staff does not have access to ACP and cannot validate. Your Display Name Should be Your Character Name: If your display name is something other than your character it may confuse people who try to roleplay with that character. Additionally, per the "regarding alias accounts" section below, alias accounts are for our site staff only. Account Creation is NOT the Same As Application Approval: Simply having an account doesn't mean your character will be approved. While we aren't super strict on our guidelines for approval (we mainly ask that the character be consistent and reasonably balanced), we do have some and it is up to our Staff to determine if the character you present is a good fit with the site. So after you create your account you'll need to fill out your character application and await approval from our staff before you can progress too far on the site. Regarding Alias Accounts Accounts which use your Alias name are strictly reserved for administrators, moderators, and support staff. Our general membership will register with their character names, and character names only. Anyone found registering with an alias rather than a character name will be issued an official warning, and our staff will be changing their name to a character name that is agreed upon over PM with the account holder. Regarding Character Limits We dont' have any! Instead of enacting a policy that limits writers from having characters, we felt that it was a better idea to place a limit on frequency of creation. This means that you don't have to worry about losing your muse for a character and being stuck with them counting against your limit anyway. Instead, our rule is that you can have as many characters as you desire, but only one application awaiting approval at a time. I repeat you can only have one application in review at a time. This is to prevent our staff from getting overwhelmed with application reviews so that we don't get too stressed and unfairly handle them and we can maintain appropriate feedback for any applications that need some tweaking. The Application Process As mentioned above, we have an application process when registering a character. After creating your account, using your character name for the account, you will head to the Character Application Forum and fill out the application form according to the directions within it. The step-by-step guide for the application submission process can be found HERE. Once your application has been submitted, our staff will review it. This typically takes about 48 hours but can take longer depending on how many applications are currently under review. Each application is reviewed by 2 members of our staff. The results of the review can be any of the following: Approved, Pending, and Denied. Staff members are not allowed to review their own applications. Approved Applications: These applications are complete and you will be sorted as a "Half-Blood Camper" until you complete the claiming. This makes your character active and you'll need to report it onto the Who's Who board. You are ready for roleplay! Pending Applications: This means that there are some adjustments that need to be made to your character's application. Sometimes this will mean something as simple as that you simply stated who your godly parent was (read the roleplay rules below to for further information on why this would prevent approval), to something as complex as too many contradictions in character development. Regardless of what it might be, you will receive a PM from the people who reviewed your application telling you what they believe needed fixing so that you can edit it. Denied Applications: This option won't appear very frequently, however when it does it usually means that the character concept wasn't appropriate for the site. For example, a Harry Potter character or Anime character are not in keeping with the theme of Percy Jackson. We will generally attempt to put these in pending and allow the writer to change them first, but if we feel that after a few attempts the writer isn't making the changes towards the community standards, we will deny the application. Other application statuses include: In Progress, Ready for Review, and Under Review. An In Progress application is one where the writer has started working on it, but it is still in the process of being finished. Ready for Review is one where the writer has alerted the staff that the application is ready for them to begin the review process. And Under Review is a Staff Only mark that indicates our Staff Memebers are actively reviewing your application. Applications that are Under Review should not be edited as it could negatively effect the chances of application approval. Roleplay While we try not to limit our writers too much, we do have to have some rules regarding roleplay to ensure a community standard and maintain an environment that benefits the writers as a whole. That means that there will be a few standards regarding how to roleplay on our site and what kind of characters are allowed. Original Characters Only We want this to be a unique experience for everyone. Nobody wants to see a million Percy Jacksons running around, and if we let one person play a character from a book/movie/show/comic we would have to let everyone. Absolutely no Godmoding Your character is not perfect, they have flaws. You cannot control other characters' actions. In the How-To Role-Play guide in the Welcome section there is a more descriptive definition if you are still unclear. New Characters are all 13 or younger Since it is now cannon that all gods must claim their children by the age of 13 or earlier, and your character will not have been claimed yet, please make them no older than 13. While everyone is indeed special, nobody is so special that the gods would break their agreement with Percy after the Titan War. The only exception to this rule being characters that are reserved and claimed on the OLDER CAMPER REQUEST BOARD. Please see this board for information regarding this unique exception. New Campers are brought by Satyrs It is also cannon that Satyrs are now out in droves looking for the campers. Since mortals cannot find the camp on their own, it is not realistic that a parent would have brought you, you would have been dropped off by a cab, or any other 'mortal' means. A satyr will find you, and bring you. That doesn't mean the trip had to be a smooth one though! Maintain a consistent character While people and characters all grow and change, this does not happen overnight. Writers are expected to keep things consistent with their character, and if something does change, there needs to be a role-play reason for the change. All we're asking is that you show that growth and development, don't just spring it upon us! No character can be in a relationship before the age of 14 Why 14? It's the age most students start High School. While we're not so unrealistic as to believe that kids don't "date" before the age of 14 in real life, the truth of the matter is that those relationships don't often work out and tend to be juvenile in nature in comparison with their High School and Adult counterparts. Act your age Character age, that is! Every age is at different stages of development. Some are all about fun and games, while others might be angsty teenagers. While no person is the same, there are definitely certain maturity levels that just aren't appropriate for certain character ages. All we ask is that you keep things within the realm of reason. For example, eleven year old boys are not, typically, thinking about getting girlfriends. In fact, some may still subscribe to the "cootie" theory. So, at 11 they should not be looking at girls that way (Percy didn't start to start falling for girls until around 14 or so after all). However girls do tend to develop crushes early, so an 11 year old female might be head over heels for someone and that would be reasonable. Act according to your hero level We get that this isn't as self-explanatory as some of our other rules. What we mean is, if you are a cabin leader you should be better with your weapons than the younger campers. If you're a young camper you should be asking a lot of questions. Things like that. In other words, don't assume your character is going to understand everything right away, and don't prevent them from growing in skill either. Act according to your deity parent's abilities Aphrodite most likely won't produce the best fighters, Hephaestus children likely won't know much about nature, and children of Athena won't be the ones failing to make the informed decision (though perhaps not always wise, as is evident by Daedelus). Regarding Character Ratios Certain statuses of characters are to be protected. Most of our ratios are built out of a desire to respect and maintain realism regarding certain types of statuses. We did our best to ensure that nobody would have to play a character type they didn't want to, while still maintaining some semblance of realism with the ratios. Our staff is diverse and many of us come from one of these protected classes or another. So the ratios were well discussed and considered at length before we created them. Ratios exist regarding: non-binary and transgender status, non-straight orientations (including asexual and demisexual), and disability status. Gender Statuses: Trans Female: 1 out of every 7 -- Trans females, meaning male to female transgender identity, represent less than 1% of the population. We thought a ratio of 1/200 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 7 characters was pretty reasonable. Trans Male: 1 out of every 7 -- Trans males, meaning female to male transgender identity, represent less than 1% of the population. We thought a ratio of 1/200 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 7 characters was pretty reasonable. Non-Binary: 1 out of every 7 -- Non-binary individuals, meaning they don't identify as either male or female, represent less than 1% of the population. We thought a ratio of 1/200 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 7 characters was pretty reasonable. Non-Straight Orientations: Gay: 1 out of every 5 -- Homosexual males represent approximately 5% of the population according to recent studies. We thought a ratio of 1/20 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 5 characters was pretty reasonable. Lesbian: 1 out of every 5 -- Homosexual females represent a little less than 5% of the population according to recent studies. We thought a ratio of 1/50 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 5 characters was pretty reasonable. Bisexual: 1 out of every 6 -- Bisexual individuals represent approximately 2% of the population according to recent studies. We thought a ratio of 1/20 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 6 characters was pretty reasonable. Pansexual: 1 out of every 7 -- Pansexual individuals represent less than 1% of the population according to recent studies. We thought a ratio of 1/200 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 7 characters was pretty reasonable. Demisexual: 1 out of every 7 -- Demisexual individuals represent approximately 1% of the population according to recent studies. We thought a ratio of 1/100 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 7 characters was pretty reasonable. Asexual: 1 out of every 7 -- Asexual individuals represent approximately 1% of the population according to recent studies. We thought a ratio of 1/100 was a little crazy, and also really wanted to be a lot more inclusive than that, so we thought a ratio of 1 for every 7 characters was pretty reasonable. Disability Status: Physical Disabilities: 1 out of every 5 -- Disabled individuals represent approximately 20% of the population according to recent studies. We are choosing to represent that accurately on here with a 1 out of every 5 ratio. These ratios were created to protect the challenges people in these categories face by not being predominantly represented in society. While some may find it offensive that we have placed these ratios, there are others who feel that not representing this struggle accurately is also offensive or find sites with disproportionate representations of populations to be intimidating. We did the best we could to find a balance between the two polarizing views. LGBTQI+ statuses, while limited by type, are not done so in such a way that it prevents a writer from solely writing within that community. For example, while you may only be able to make a gay character for 1 in every 5 of yours, you could still make a demisexual, bisexual, asexual, and trans female before your 6th character without ever making a non-lgbtqi+ character. Our goal isn't to limit the community, but rather to preserve the integrity of the struggle these individuals face by not being in the majority, while still allowing for our members that belong to that community to feel welcome and accepted here. Unfortunately it is difficult to find a balance between representing the struggles accurately and being welcoming, this was the only viable solution we could think of. Regarding Godly Parents This is easily the most exciting part of creating a new character. It can also be one of the most complicated and site breaking aspects if things aren't made to be balanced in a way. For this reason, on Demigods and Monsters, we have enacted a policy that Admins will choose your parent after reading and approving your application, during the "claiming". This is for two main reasons. The first, there are limited options for godly parents. While we encourage creativity here, there are only so many gods that have cabins at Camp Half-Blood canonically. Persephone doesn't, and neither do many of the minor deities. We have taken the position of assuming this means they don't have demigod children. Second, we are trying to avoid having several children of The Big Three (Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades) and overfilled cabins of parents that don't produce many children. This being said, the Administrators sort you based on your personality and backstory. Don't worry, most people are generally happy with where they get placed, we're pretty good at taking hints. We just want to ensure that there aren't a million children of Athena, and no children of Apollo and that we don't somehow end up with an army of children from the Big Three. In addition to this, we also ask that our members remember that there is only one deity parent per character. They are Half-Bloods, not Gods. If you have more than one deity as a parent, then you're a full god and wouldn't be at Camp Half-Blood. And last, but not least, we ask that your characters act according to your deity parent's abilities. Aphrodite most likely won't produce the best fighters, Hephaestus children likely won't know much about nature, and children of Athena won't be the ones failing to make the informed decision (though perhaps not always wise, as is evident by Daedelus). This doesn't mean we don't allow for variation within the cabins. We will take backstories and motivation into account with a character. All we're saying is that unless the development is there to explain why they are a little atypical, we will probably notify you that you need to show that development more in your writing. Regarding Special Status Applications In the Directories and Claims forum, you'll find a list of protected character types. These types were created specifically to maintain balance, realism, and prevent chaos. They include the following: Older Campers - Any age over 13 is limited. We want to allow them, because the site would be dull if nobody could be older than 13, but we don't want too many of any given age running around. Full-blooded Siblings and Multiples - Gods rarely have a child with the same mortal more than once, so full-blooded siblings are rare, and twins, triplets and other multiples are rare as well. Special Abilities - While all children of the gods have access to some degree of supernatural power, there are certain special abilities that are limited and rare. These powers are limited to prevent an overabundance of them on the site. The Big Three - Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades children are exceedingly rare post World War II because of their pact. As a result we only allow 1 per deity every 6 months. Applications for these are the more difficult ones to get approved, and are only recommended for writers who are good at taking constructive criticism, as most of these applications will probably require more than one attempt at approval. Regarding Mature Content While mature content is completely allowed, we want to be certain that we protect our members who don't wish to be exposed to certain things as well. This means we need to have rules regarding how mature content is handled. Label Mature Threads: All members will have the opportunity to label their threads with a Prefix option. One of these options will include "Mature". If your thread is going to contain mature content, please be certain that you're labeling it so. Any thread not labelled as such that is found to contain mature content will result in a formal warning from our staff for all participating members of the thread. Have Writer Consent Before Starting: Some topics can be very sensitive for people. Make sure before you start a mature thread with a writer that you have both agreed to the content that will be covered within it. Certain writers may have traumas regarding certain topics, or they could just be uncomfortable writing about things. It is unfair to expose them to such if they don't wish to be and will be considered harassment. Mature Content Must Serve A Purpose: We are not a smut forum, we are not an outlet for darker thoughts. If you are going to be working with Mature Content, there must be a reason for that to occur. For example, a sex scene purely for the sake of sex is not okay, but a sex scene that might include some other aspect of character development such as realization of genuine emotions instead of just lust, trauma, or other developments of import are fine. All in all, Staff will be fairly loose on what defines development, however if we see certain writers are posting nothing but "mature" content we will begin looking at things a bit more critically. We allow mature content to encourage and promote creativity without too much limitation, but we do not want that to be the entirety of what is written on our site. If it becomes that, we will remove mature content altogether. Mature content includes, but is not limited to: Sex Drugs Gore Rape Incest Torture Suicide Consequences Nobody is perfect, and we all make mistakes. For most things consequences will be as simple as a reminder that rules have been broken and a request to adjust to fit the rules. In most cases we will assume human error was made and not take it any further. If you fix what is asked, all will be good. However, those who choose to stand their ground, risk the following consequences: Official Warning: These are given to people who have been asked repeatedly to correct something by Moderators or Administrators and still refuse to. You can have up to 3 warnings for the same behavior before things are escalated further, depending on the offense. Warnings will affect only one account, however if we notice people trying to get away with the same thing on multiple accounts intentionally, we will revisit the decision to make this only affect one account. Suspension: Certain offenses warrant an immediate suspension--abuse of power, harassment for example--however most suspensions will be the result of not following instructions and accumulating more than 3 official warnings for the same offense. These can be anywhere from a day to a couple weeks depending on the severity of the situation. Suspensions can affect all or just some accounts, depending on the situation. Banning: If after a suspension you continue to engage in the behavior that got you suspended, or you participate in multiple harassment forms, catfishing, or one of the more significant offenses on the board, we will ban you. Banning affects all of your accounts. Warnings will be removed over time. Each type of warning will have a specific duration that is related to the impact of the offense. For example, failure to credit an artist may get removed after 3 months while harassment might take a full year. Appealing A Decision While we'd like to think the Staff and Moderators are infallible, we're all human. Mistakes can be made, and we are all prone to human error and emotions. If you feel that a decision has been made that you disagree with, here are the proper steps for appealing our decision. Step 1: Identify the person who made the decision. This will be the person who contacted you regarding the incident. Step 2: Identify their rank in the site hierarchy and move up to the next level. If it was a Site Staff member, appeal to a Moderator, if it was a Moderator appeal to the Administrators. If it was and Administrator who issued the consequence, you may appeal to the remaining 2 administrators. You will need to include both Administrators in one PM. For example, if Lilythe issued the warning, then you would appeal to the 2 administrators that are not her. Step 3: Be patient. Whoever you appealed to will need time to review your case and potentially discuss it with other members of the team if they feel the need. We will get back to you in time. Step 4: Accept the decision. Once you've escalated it to a higher level, you need to accept that the decision is final. While they may rescind the consequence, they could also choose to uphold it. Whatever the case is, you must accept that this is how it will be.
